Kitsunebi — the anchored ledger

Every row is the sha256 of a file in the private repository, timestamped into Bitcoin through OpenTimestamps. The hash is public; the file is not, unless a row says revealed.

How to read a proof

pip install opentimestamps-client, then ots info <proof>.ots. It prints the sha256 the proof commits to and BitcoinBlockHeaderAttestation(N): the block that contains it. Check the hash against the row and the block against the link. That proves this hash was in that block; the Merkle path from the calendar is inside the file.

With the original file: ots verify -f <file> <proof>.ots recomputes the hash and checks the path up to the block header, which it reads from a Bitcoin node. Without a node, ots --no-bitcoin verify does everything but that last step and names the header to check on any explorer.

For rows that are not revealed you hold the proof and the hash, not the file: the first check still proves a specific hash existed by a specific block; what the file said is shown when the row is revealed. The drag-and-drop page at opentimestamps.org does the first check without a terminal.

Retro rows existed before the ledger; their proof dates the anchoring day, 2026-09-04, not the file's earlier history.
